how to style a poncho

Hey Fashionistas,

Where did September go? I flew by in no time. Fall is approaching and I'm kind of looking forward to wearing chunky knit sweaters, oversized hoodies, and these awesome ponchos.

If you saw my last blog post you know that I got some cool Ponchos from Peru. This wool poncho is the perfect addition to my Poncho collection. It is this super chic and made out of wool. I got this Poncho from Repeat.

I would say this is the upgraded sophisticated version to any Pancho I own. I love that this Poncho has two colors. Beige on the inside and black from the outside. Unfortunately, this Poncho is not reversible. The fabric is super soft and perfect to keep me warm for fall.

I can't believe the year only has three months left. Sometimes I can't believe how fast the time is passing, I guess once I reach adulthood time just runs. In a bit over a month, we are celebrating our 5 year wedding anniversary. Honestly, it does and it doesn't feel that long if you know what I'm saying. I feel like I know my husband my entire life but I also feel like we just got married yesterday. I don't want to say and give up too much but we are planning some really awesome things that I can't wait to share with you in a blog post in November.

Going back to my outfit. There are so many fun ways to style a poncho. In my case, I took the elegant approach. I paired a pair of slack with my poncho and a fun bright pair of high heels. Even though fall is approaching that doesn't mean that you cannot add a pop of bright color to your outfit. I almost want to encourage you to wear bright colors in fall or winter because everyone tends to dress very dark. Don't you think?

When I'm wearing garments that are very close to my neck or turtleneck sweaters I always wear my hair in a bun. This way your neck looks longer so it will elevate your outfit and posture to make you look even more sophisticated.

I love how effortless a poncho can make your outfit look. I could also see myself wearing ripped jeans or a pair of black tight leather pants with a poncho. The only thing that I wouldn't combine with poncho are pants that are not skinny fit. I feel that one flowy or oversized item is enough for your outfit.
